Every year at the Baku City Grand Prix throws up another unpredictable race that proves to be one of the best of the season. The same could be said for 2024, with many unknowns as of now as we head closer to the start of the season.
The streets of Baku are fast yet unforgiving, with some of the most excitable while difficult sections of a circuit on the calendar. The Castle section has the tightest corner entry of any circuit, yet the drivers still say they love it. It leads up the hill and around the Old City, all making up sector two of the circuit and while is the slowest part of the track, is undoubtedly the most fun.
Overall, the <a href="https://www.seatunique.com/blog/baku-city-circuit-azerbaijan-grand-prix/">Baku City Circuit</a> is one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, with top speeds reaching 220 mph down the Neftchilar Avenue, a1.4-mile stretch that runs back to the start/ finish line. That speed, however, was projected by the circuit-makers when they were conceiving the layout. In actuality, that speed was (unofficially) beaten in its first year of running in 2016, when data from the Williams team supposedly clocked Valtteri Bottas reaching speeds of 235 mph.
