Sedgefield Racecourse, located in Sedgefield, County Durham, is an English left-handed horse racing course. It is known as one of the country's friendliest racecourses, offering a warm and relaxed atmosphere for racegoers. Situated in the beautiful Durham countryside, Sedgefield Racecourse hosts 20 fixtures throughout the year and is also available for venue hire.
The racecourse features a finishing straight that spans about three furlongs. It includes a steep descent followed by a climb to the winning post after the last fence, providing a challenging and exciting course for jump racing.
Sedgefield Racecourse offers various amenities for racegoers. The Bistro 1927, opened in honour of Sedgefield's 90th Anniversary, is a popular option with a great bar serving draught beer, lager, and freshly ground Italian coffees.
When it comes to dressing code, Sedgefield Racecourse generally maintains a relaxed atmosphere, with no strict rules in place. Racegoers are encouraged to wear what they are comfortable in while still being considerate of others.
The racecourse is easily accessible, situated just outside the village of Sedgefield. It is approximately a twenty-minute drive from Teesside, Darlington, and Durham city centre. The nearest mainline stations are located in Darlington and Durham.
