Culture Club history

Culture Club is made up of Boy George, Roy Hay, and Mikey Craig, and formerly included Jon Moss. Emerging in the New Romantic scene, they are considered one of the most representative and influential groups of the 1980s.

Culture Club's debut album, "Kissing to Be Clever," released in 1982, thrust the band into the international spotlight and propelled them to new heights of stardom. This Grammy-nominated record showcased their signature sound, a captivating fusion of new wave pop and reggae, beautifully complemented by Boy George's soulful vocals. Exploring themes of love, loneliness, and societal pressures, "Kissing to Be Clever" resonated with audiences on a universal level.

Continuing their meteoric rise, Culture Club released "Colour by Numbers" in 1983, further cementing their status as pop icons. This critically acclaimed sophomore album, surpassing the success of its predecessor, sold over 10 million copies worldwide and garnered numerous awards. Among its standout tracks was the unforgettable "Karma Chameleon," which not only topped charts globally but also became the best-selling UK single of the year, solidifying Culture Club's place in music history.
