Busted and McFly, two of the UK's most iconic pop-rock bands, have shared a unique and intertwined history since the early 2000s. Busted, formed in 2000, quickly gained fame with their cheeky lyrics and catchy pop-punk hits like "Year 3000," "What I Go to School For," and "Crashed the Wedding." Their energetic sound, blending pop with a punk edge, won them a massive following. However, in 2005, Busted disbanded after just two albums, leaving their fans heartbroken and the pop landscape missing one of its biggest stars.
Meanwhile, McFly, who emerged in 2003, carried the pop-punk torch. Formed by Tom Fletcher (who had originally auditioned for Busted before being offered a songwriting role) alongside Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd, McFly debuted with the smash hit "Five Colours in Her Hair." McFly's success was instant, and they quickly became one of the UK’s most beloved bands, scoring multiple number one hits and albums, with both bands attracted similar fanbases.
The connection between the two bands deepened in 2013 when, to the delight of fans, they formed a supergroup called McBusted. The collaboration brought together Busted's Matt Willis and James Bourne with all four McFly members. McBusted embarked on a highly successful arena tour, blending the biggest hits from both bands.
Though McBusted was a temporary project, it paved the way for Busted's eventual full reunion in 2015, with Charlie Simpson rejoining the band and the trio releasing new music. Both bands continue to thrive today, and now they're going on tour together in what will be a must-see for fans.
