Crystal Palace FC History
Crystal Palace FC was founded in 1905, and the club's original home was the Crystal Palace Exhibition Centre in Sydenham. This large building, which hosted the Great Exhibition of 1851, was the inspiration for the club's name. The most successful era in the club’s history came during the 1980s and early 1990s under manager Steve Coppell. Palace enjoyed some of their best performances, including reaching the FA Cup final in 1990 where they faced Manchester United. They lost after a thrilling replay following a 3-3 draw, but it was a landmark achievement.
The club’s current manager is Oliver Glasner. The club achieved a strong finish at the end of the 2023–24 season under Glasner, equalling their highest Premier League finish of tenth place, and highest points total of 49.
