About The Offspring

The Offspring, an iconic American punk rock band, was formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California, by lead vocalist and guitarist Dexter Holland, bassist Greg Kriesel (Greg K.), and guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman. Their early work was deeply influenced by the Southern California punk scene, marked by fast, aggressive guitar riffs and rebellious lyrics.

The band’s breakthrough came with their 1994 album Smash, which was released on the independent label Epitaph Records. Smash featured hits like "Come Out and Play" and "Self Esteem," catapulting The Offspring to international stardom and making the album the best-selling record ever released on an independent label. It solidified the band’s place in the mainstream punk rock scene during the 1990s, alongside bands like Green Day and Rancid.

In 1998, The Offspring released Americana, an album that further cemented their reputation, featuring hits like "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)" and "The Kids Aren’t Alright". These songs showcased the band’s blend of humour, catchy melodies, and socially conscious lyrics. Americana went multi-platinum, and its success made the band a staple of alternative and punk rock radio.

Through the 2000s, The Offspring continued releasing successful albums like Conspiracy of One (2000) and Splinter (2003), maintaining their energetic punk sound while experimenting with different styles. They also gained a reputation for their entertaining and high-energy live shows. After a five-year break, they returned with Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace in 2008, featuring the hit single "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid."

The band’s lineup experienced changes over the years, with Greg Kriesel leaving in 2018 after a legal dispute, and Todd Morse joining as the new bassist. Despite lineup changes and the evolution of the music industry, The Offspring continued to tour and release music. Their 2021 album Let the Bad Times Roll was their first in nearly a decade, reflecting their resilience and adaptability in the rock scene.

Today, The Offspring remains one of the most enduring bands from the '90s punk rock resurgence, known for their blend of punk energy, catchy hooks, and social commentary. They continue to influence new generations of punk and alternative rock fans.
