About Vance Joy

Vance Joy, whose real name is James Gabriel Keogh, is an Australian singer-songwriter and former Australian rules footballer. He gained popularity with his hit song "Riptide" in 2013, which reached number one on the Triple J Hottest 100 that year. Vance Joy signed a five-album deal with Atlantic Records in 2013 and released his debut EP, "God Loves You When You're Dancing," in March of that year. His music is known for its blend of indie folk and melodic pop.

Before pursuing a music career, Vance Joy had a background in sports, particularly Australian rules football. Even after becoming a known singer, he remained a part of the sport. Vance Joy's stage name was inspired by a character in the book "Bliss" by Peter Carey.
