Horse racing enthusiasts will be keen to visit Southwell Racecourse. Set in 145 acres of beautiful countryside, it’s been open since 1898.
The track is only one of six in the UK that has an all-weather flat course. It also has evening fixtures after flood lights were added in 2019.
It holds over 50 fixtures each year, either on its flat course, or on its National Hunt course, where horses jump over fences and ditches.

There are not one, but two incredible options for Ladies Day at Southwell this year - one in summer and one in winter.
Advertiser Ladies Day ft DJ Vernon Kay
Date: 18th August | Gates open: TBA
This one is a great choice if you want a girls’ day out. Check out the horses first and get into the spirit as you place your bets in the August sunshine.
Then, in the evening there’s a DJ set from Vernon Kay - as well as lots of food and drink options.
And don’t forget to wear your best outfit as there’s the traditional Style Awards open for all to enter. With a £500 prize on offer for the winner, there’s going to be some stiff competition.
Winter Ladies Day
Date: 2nd November | Gates open: 3pm
Winter gets its own edition of Ladies Day and it promises to be just as fun as the summer edition - but do bring a coat.
After watching the fast and furious races, you’ll indulge in food and drink in a night to remember.
Entertainment for the night is still TBC, but you can expect top-notch DJs as in previous years.

Spice up your bank holiday weekend with the kids and head down to Southwell for a family-friendly day at the races.
There will be a funfair, petting zoo, face painting and a bouncy castle, whilst mum and dad get to watch the horses. Under 17s go free.
Racing League Finale
Date: 29th August | Gates open: 3pm
Made up of seven teams from around the UK, the competition takes place each Thursday night over six weeks.
On 29th August, the event hits Southwell for its crescendo when the winner is crowned.
There’s lots of family fun to be had, from a treasure hunt to prize giveaways and face painting. And if that wasn’t entertainment enough, there will also be a Queen tribute band on the day.
