Pearl Jam’s latest album was 2020’s ‘Gigaton’. It was released on the 27th of March and was supposed to coincide with a tour of North America. However, the COVID-19 pandemic caused them to have to postpone the tour.
‘Gigaton’ was the band's first studio album in six and a half years, and it was released to critical acclaim, with many critics speaking highly of the new album. It peaked at number six on the UK’s official albums chart and number five on the US Billboard 200.
When was Pearl Jam’s last tour?
The ‘Gigaton’ album was to be followed by the ‘Gigaton Tour’ in 2020, however, COVID-19 meant that it was rescheduled to a later date which ended up being in 2022.
The North American leg started on 3rd May 2022 in San Diego, California, USA. They completed seven shows in the US, and after two cancelled shows, they moved on to Europe on the 18th of June.
They performed in 12 countries in Europe, including two shows in England. However, instead of playing arena or stadium shows, they headlined two shows at BST Hyde Park on the 8th and 9th of July.

Does Pearl Jam have a new album coming out?
There has been a lot of talk about Pearl Jam’s newest record, either from journalists and fans speculating or from the band themselves.
The band has finally announced their twelfth studio album, ‘Dark Matter’, which will be released on 19th April 2024 via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records. The title track is now available for streaming.
Grammy Award-winning producer Andrew Watt worked on 'Dark Matter', Pearl Jam's highly anticipated follow-up to 2020's 'Gigaton'. Notably, this album takes a much heavier musical direction, which is expected to surprise fans with its intensity.
According to Blabbermouth.net, ‘In 2023, PEARL JAM retreated to Shangri-La Studios in Malibu where they simply plugged in and played under Watt's watch. Writing and recording in a burst of inspiration, "Dark Matter" was born in just three weeks. As a result, "Dark Matter" channels the shared spirit of a group of lifelong creative confidants and brothers in one room playing as if their very lives depended on it.’
In a recent article by SPIN magazine, it was reported that lead vocalist Eddie Vedder had expressed his enthusiasm for the record, stating, "No hyperbole — I think this is our best work." Vedder even took a moment to serve tequila shots to the invited audience. Bassist Jeff Ament also shared his pride in the band's accomplishment, briefly becoming emotional when describing the experience of creating the album.
