Mumford & Sons have been serenading the world with their indie folk music since 2007. Armed with a banjo, mandolin, and moustache pomade, the band had their big break in 2010 with the release of their debut album Sigh No More, adding 12 songs of fodder to hipster coffee shop playlists.

Cut to 2025 and the band have just released their most recent album RUSHMERE, along with an upcoming UK tour that’ll see them perform at stadiums for the first time since 2020. We’re going to take you through a recent setlist so you know which lyrics to cram before the show.

Mumford & Sons Setlist

1. ‘Rushmere’

Starting with ‘Rushmere’ is the comprehensive way to introduce this new era of Mumford & Sons to the audience. Starting with acoustic guitar and Marcus Mumford’s countrified vocals will be familiar to fans, and as the banjo kicks in for the chorus you’re taken back to where it all began. Quite literally – ‘Rushmere’ is the name of a pond in Wimbledon Common where the band was formed.

2. ‘Little Lion Man’

And here is where it really all began, the song that brought the band commercial success and Grammy, VMA, and Billboard nominations. You are lulled into a false sense of security with scratchy acoustic strumming, but the song does have some grit with punchy lyrics and electric guitar stings to make for a surprisingly hard-hitting tune with sing-along potential.

3. ‘The Cave’

‘The Cave’ is another song that guarantees a cheer from the audience, and appears surprisingly early on in their most recent setlists. It was their second single after ‘Little Lion Man,’ earning them another flurry of Grammy nominations, and is the banjo-heavy pure folk rock sound that we’ve all come to expect from Mumford & Sons.

4. ‘Lover of the Light’

From the 2012 Babel album, ‘Lover of the Light’ is a nice, uplifting song to keep the positive momentum going in the set. As if the song couldn’t get folk enough with its wall of banjo and guitar sound, there’s even a little violin going on that’ll have you suddenly needing to do a jig.

5. ‘Where It Belongs’

‘Where It Belongs’ brings us back to RUSHMERE and slows the pace a little for something more intimate and unplugged. It’s a simple song, but Marcus’ crooning and stripped-back instrumental make it beautiful. It seems to be a favourite from the new album, as it has appeared at many of their recent shows.

6. ‘Awake My Soul’

Luckily the mood isn’t brought down for too long as Mumford & Sons break out another fan favourite from Sigh No More, ‘Awake My Soul.’ While this song is also quite simple, its repeated refrain of “har har, har har,’ makes for a great way to get everyone singing along.

7. ‘Caroline’

‘Caroline’ is the perfect pick-me-up, with cheeky lyrics and a much more full-sounding instrumental as the drums and guitars kick back in full force. It has a charming, American summer vibe, and its short runtime quickly injects some fun back into the setlist.

8. ‘Delta’

Finally we have a track from the 2018 album of the same name – taking us through every album over the years. It adds a little pop into the set, exploding into a jubilant and euphoric chorus that feels like a breath of fresh air. While ‘Delta’ is not a single from the album, this live video shows that its clearly a popular one with crowds.

9. ‘The Wolf’

Wilder Mind was a much more experimental album, represented here by ‘The Wolf’ with all its electric instruments and lack of banjo. It leans much more towards alternative rock than indie or folk, giving the band a chance to round off the set with something universally likeable.

10. ‘Timshel’

We’re entering encore territory now, which is of course purely fan favourites from back in the day. ‘Timshel’ is the intimate and acoustic antithesis to ‘The Wolf,’ bringing the banjo back on stage to remind the audience of their signature sound. The lyrics might seem a bit heavy, but it ends up being a hopeful and uplifting note to end on.

11. ‘I Will Wait’

‘I Will Wait’ is definitely Mumford & Sons’ most popular song, so it’s no wonder they left it until last to perform. This will be excellent to experience live, everyone will be singing along and reminiscing about a simpler time full of fairy lights and exposed brick cafes. Hearing Marcus holler earnestly and Matt Menefee slap the banjo, you can almost taste the oat flat white.
