Miley Cyrus hasn’t been out on a major tour since 2014, off the back of her ground-breaking album, ‘Bangerz’.

From her all-American Hannah Montana days to her controversial ‘Wrecking Ball’ era, to her more recent pared-back look, Miley’s had many reincarnations - and fans love her for it.

And now with a new album in the works, fans are wondering if she might head out on tour again soon. You can read all the latest tour rumours in our blog here

While we wait for the pop icon to tour again in the future, let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at the best Miley Cyrus songs out there.

Miley Cyrus’ best songs in order

10. ‘Midnight Sky’

The first single from Miley’s album ‘Plastic Hearts’, the song was much-discussed as it’s such a nod to Stevie Nicks’ ‘Edge of Seventeen’. Miley’s country vibes shine through in this pop anthem that’s a modern take on a hugely nostalgic hit.

The remix of the song, ‘Edge of Midnight’, features Fleetwood Mac legend Stevie Nicks herself, and is brilliantly done.

9. ‘Drive’

This dubstep-infused track is from Miley’s smash hit 2013 album ‘Bangerz’, the record that saw her truly shake off her Disney, child star image.

Growing up in front of the whole world, the new ‘Bangerz’ Miley wasn’t afraid to shock (and shock she did). ‘Drive’ sees her take a step into edgy electronic music, though of course her country-style vocals are the classic Miley that we know and love.

8. ‘Malibu’

After her unruly ‘Bangerz’ era came to an end, an all-grown-up Miley appears with a more stripped-back image in ‘Malibu’.

This 2017 record from Miley’s sixth studio album, ‘Younger Now’, is a carefree, pop-rock single with a guitar edge that conjures up a lazy summers day at the beach in California with the lyrics, ‘We are just like the waves that flow back and forth/Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning and you're there to save me.’

7. ‘Can’t Be Tamed’

2010’s ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ came from the album of the same name, which was Miley’s third, and peaked at number on the Billboard Hot 100.

Expressing Miley’s desire for freedom and to carve out her own direction, this song was written after Miley revealed that she was feeling uninspired by her previous pop/rock direction.

‘Can’t Be Tamed’ is a new vibe for Miley in the vein of dance-pop - and it works. This has big Britney Spears ‘Blackout’ vibes, and we’re here for it.

6. ‘Flowers’

Miley’s 2023 hit ‘Flowers’ is an ode to learning to do things on her own after a breakup, with the lyrics: ‘I can buy myself flowers/Write my name in the sand/Talk to myself for hours/Say things you don't understand/I can take myself dancing/And I can hold my own hand/Yeah, I can love me better than you can.”

Surely taking some inspiration from Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’, the laid-back groove of ‘Flowers’ showcases a grown up and mature Miley at her very best.

5. ‘The Climb’

‘The Climb’ is one of those songs that was covered on reality TV singing shows like ‘The X Factor’ (see: Olly Murs and Joe McElderry, among others) so many times that you might have forgotten it was actually originally by Miley. But it is!

Released in 2009, 17-year-old Miley sang this song ‘Hannah Montana: The Movie’. A huge power country pop ballad, it speaks of how difficult - but amazing - it is to live life.

It was nominated for a Grammy, and hit number four on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as number 11 in the UK. And it was covered forevermore by hopeful contestants hoping for a ‘yes’ from Simon Cowell.

4. ‘Party in the USA’

This upbeat party classic is one of Miley’s best-known hits - and one of her biggest, pre-‘Bangerz’. From Miley’s debut EP in 2009, it reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 - and for good reason.

Complete with twangy guitar, this Miley track is poppy and optimistic, as Miley describes the joy she feels at hearing her music on the radio.

With the lyrics: ‘So I put my hands up/They're playin' my song, the butterflies fly away/I'm noddin' my head like, yeah/Movin' my hips like, yeah/I got my hands up, they're playin' my song/They know I'm gonna be okay/Yeah, it's a party in the U.S.A’., who wouldn’t want to dance when they hear this song?

3. ‘Nothing Breaks Like a Heart’

Miley’s mega-hit collaboration with Mark Ronson was released in 2018, and was a huge success, going number two in the UK, as well as number one on 11 other official charts around the world.

A country-disco single, it was produced by Jamie xx as well as Ronson and is a slick, perfect pop song, detailing heartbreak in the way that Miley does best.

The video sees Miley driving away from police on the motorway, dressed in a silver dress that matches the disco vibe of the song perfectly.

2. ‘Wrecking Ball’

No countdown of the top Miley Cyrus songs would be complete without the one and only ‘Wrecking Ball’. In the anthem she showcases her incredible vocals - and a huge amount of emotion. All whilst riding an actual wrecking ball in the video.

Catapulting Miley to new heights back in her ‘Bangerz’ days, the track is an epic that’s featured in Christmas film ‘The Night Before’, Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Free Guy’ and Will Ferrell’s ‘Strays’ (as well as karaoke bars across the entire planet, on a nightly basis) since its release.

Discussing the breakdown of a relationship in candid fashion, the song is known for its massive chorus: ‘I came in like a wrecking ball/I never hit so hard in love/All I wanted was to break your walls/All you ever did was wreck me’.

1. ‘We Can’t Stop’

‘We Can’t Stop’ is the record where Miley truly smashed her old Disney persona in two. A hedonistic track about partying and letting your hair down with the refrain “This is our house/This is our rules”, Miley shows that she couldn’t care less what anybody thinks of her in this party anthem.

Miley has revealed that she “got fought so bad” by her record label over the lyrics, which also reference her pansexuality. This track is all about her growing up and becoming her own woman - and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
