The Gallagher Premiership is the top professional men's rugby union competition in England.
The 2023/2024 season, which began in October, consisted of 10 teams who competed against each other in a round-robin format. The competition is divided into two stages: the regular season and the playoffs. During the whole season, each team will play 18 matches, facing every other team both home and away.
The teams earn points based on their performance, with 4 points awarded for a win and 2 points for a draw. Bonus points can be obtained by scoring 4 or more tries in a match or losing by 7 points or fewer. At the end of the regular season, the top four teams advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs consist of semi-final matches and the final, with the top two teams earning home advantage. The winner of the final is crowned the Gallagher Premiership champions, while the team finishing last in the regular season is relegated to the second-tier RFU Championship.

What teams are in the Premiership Rugby Semi-finals?
The teams that will be going head to head in the Premiership Rugby Semi-finals 2023/2024 are:
- 31st May 2024 - Northampton Saints v Saracens
- 1st June 2024 - Bath v Sale Sharks
Leaders of the league Northampton have been the frontrunners for most of the season, but they were all but obliterated in their recent match against Bath. Now, they face a formidable task as they go head-to-head against defending champions Saracens. This crucial match will determine their chance of reaching the final for the first time in a decade.
Saracens also suffered a setback in their match against Sale Sharks on the 18th May. The six-time winners will need to regain their confidence as they prepare for a challenging clash against the Northampton Saints on Friday. While Saracens have long since proven themselves as formidable opponents, winning against the table-toppers will be tough.

Having won the chance to play a home semi-final in their last match against Northampton, and placing themselves at joint top place, Bath has fought for a very strong position going into their semi-final match on Saturday.
Meanwhile, after the Sale Sharks’ win against the Saracens, they are clearly a team that are fighting with everything they have got to get to the final. As their director of Rugby Alex Sanderson told the BBC “this group that we've got at the moment have a want and desire to break records and set standards and send messages.”
There is no doubt that the Semi-final matches this week will be incredibly exciting, and lead onto a thrilling Final.
