According to Deadline, actress Ariana DeBose is in talks to play the role of Evita, and she says her “fingers are crossed” that everything will align to bring her to London in the summer. Ariana DeBose is a seasoned musical actress, having been an original ensemble member of Hamilton, and starring as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story film in 2021. She has also won Golden Globe, Tony, and Academy Awards for her acting.

Evita at the London Palladium in 2025 will be directed by Jamie Lloyd. Jamie has directed a plethora of West End shows before, and has worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber often as well, such as the current production of Sunset Boulevard on Broadway starring Nicole Scherzinger.
Jamie Lloyd also directed the last production of Evita in the UK, which was performed at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and Barbican in 2019. This means he is very familiar with the show and would be able to put an interesting spin on the classic story.
What Is Evita about?
The musical Evita follows the life story of Eva Perón, an actress and activist who became the first lady of Argentina. It is a rock opera with themes of determination, power, ambition, and legacy, that has moments of both despair and euphoria.
Some of the most recognisable songs from Evita include “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” “Another Suitcase, Another Hall,” and “You Must Love Me” from the film adaptation starring Madonna.
