Epsom Derby Dates 2025

The Derby is the crown in the UK flat racing season, and will take place over two days this year. The dates of the Derby at Epsom Downs are as follows:

  • Friday 6th June 2025 – Derby Festival Ladies’ Day
  • Saturday 7th June 2025 – Derby Festival Derby Day

On Ladies’ Day, you’ll find guests dressing to the nines as you watch a series of seven races, including The Betfred Oaks. Then, Derby Day includes the most prestigious Betfred Derby Stakes. What makes the Derby so special is that horses must be three years old – and only three years old. That gives each runner one chance to make it count!

What to wear to The Derby Festival

What dress code you should dress for depends on where your tickets are situated for the day. Generally, in the Grandstand enclosure, the Epsom Downs Racecourse does not have a strict dress code as long as it is not fancy dress, offensive, or sports clothes. If you need some inspiration for your Ladies’ Day outfit, check out our blog post.

If your hospitality package includes admission into the Queen Elizabeth II Stand Enclosure, there is a dress code implemented on Derby Day. Male guests must wear either black or grey morning dress with a top hat, service dress, or full national costume. For women, a formal day dress or tailored trouser suit with a hat or fascinator is required.

Since the Derby’s inception in 1870, there has always been an area reserved for those who wish to wear full morning dress as part of tradition. There are other areas at the racecourse where you are free to wear whatever you like.
