2014: India in England (Pataudi Trophy)
In 2014, India headed to England for a five-match Test series. India started well by winning the second Test at Lord’s.
However, England made a comeback, winning the next three Tests on home turf to win the series with a score of 3-1.
England won plaudits for James Anderon’s bowling, with Anderson taking 25 wickets across five matches.
Joe Root’s batting was also excellent, with Root scoring 518 runs in total across the Test. Meanwhile, India notably struggled in terms of batting.

2016/2017: England in India (Anthony de Mello Trophy)
India got their revenge on England when the English headed to India for the Test match series.
With the Indian spin bowling prowess of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, England’s batting suffered heavily. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli scored his career high of 235 runs in the fourth Mumbai Test.
India took control this time, and ended up beating England by 4-0, proving that there’s a big advantage to playing on home ground.

2018: India in England (Pataudi Trophy)
In 2018, India were once again back in England for another five-match Test tournament.
India was a strong side, with MS Dhoni playing his 500th international match during the series. The team put in a lot of work, with Virat Kohli scoring two centuries and becoming the highest-scoring batsman of the series.
However, England were too good for India, going on to win the series 4-1, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad utilising India’s overall weaknesses at batting.

2020/2021: England in India (Anthony de Mello Trophy)
After initial interruptions and rescheduling due to Covid, England headed to India in February and March 2021. The Test matches were part of the ICC World Test Championship.
England won the first Test with 227 runs, but India fought back and won the second installment by 317 runs. For the third Test, India won by ten wickets, followed by the fourth Test by an innings and 25 runs. This meant they were victorious in the series at 3-1.
Again, India proved that having the home advantage was key as they stormed to victory.

2021: India in England (Pataudi Trophy)
It wasn’t long before India and England came head-to-head again, meeting again in the summer of 2021 back in England for a series of five Test matches.
With the first Test a draw - with two days lost to rain - the second was won by India with 151 runs. Captained by Joe Root, England levelled up in the third Test, winning by an innings and 76 runs. But then India took the fourth Test, winning by 157 runs, leading the series by 2-1.
There was only one match left to play, however Covid got in the way of things, with several members of the Indian team getting struck down. The fifth Test was cancelled, with India unable to form a team.
In the end, a one-off England v India Test match was played in July 2022 to determine the winners of the series. After winning the fifth test by seven wickets, the series was declared a 2-2 draw.

2023/2024: England in India (Anthony de Mello Trophy)
This year’s England v India series was full of thrills, with England playing their aggressive ‘Bazball’ style of cricket.
With England winning the first Test by 28 runs, their hopes were high, but India came back and won the second Test by 106 runs with a strong bowling attack from Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a career best with 209 runs.
The third Test was a washout for England with India scoring a huge 434 runs, the largest lead the team has ever scored during Test matches.
With India winning both the fourth and fifth Tests, England were once again beaten on Indian soil by 4-1.
