The Who

Legendary English music pioneers The Who are scheduled to hit the stage at Seat Unique Riverside in July of 2023 for a massive night of hard rock in continuation of their ‘The Who Hits Back!’ tour.

The ‘Pinball Wizard’ singers were formed in London in 1963 and are one of the most successful bands of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide. The original members of the band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

The band revolutionised the music industry with their development of the Marshall Stack, use of synthesisers, influential playing style, and development of rock opera. Their influence on music spreads over many different genres, including punk rock, power pop and mod.

The show in Durham comes off the back of the band’s ‘The Who Hits Back!’ tour of North America in 2022. The tour saw the band play 29 dates across the continent, starting in Hollywood, Florida, and ending in Las Vegas, Nevada.  

The band has a fantastic catalogue of smash hits to play live including ‘My Generation’ and ‘I Can See For Miles’, making for a truly unmissable night of music at Seat Unique Riverside.

Seat Unique Riverside has played host to some of the music industry's top stars over the years, here are some of the biggest artists to take the stage at the iconic home of Durham CCC.

Elton John

The ‘Rocketman’ brought his European tour to Seat Unique Riverside back in 2006. The ‘Crocodile Rock’ singer put on a fantastic show, with Welsh rock band The Stories opening the festivities.

Ever the showman, and coupled with his iconic piano, Elton put on a blockbuster performance that blew the proverbial roof off of the stadium.

The set played by John consisted of all his biggest hits, including ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘Bennie and The Jets’ and ‘Saturday Nights Alright (For Fighting)’.

Little Mix

Record-breaking girl group Little Mix performed at Seat Unique Riverside in 2017, as part of their ‘The Glory Days Tour’ of Europe and Japan.

The X Factor winners put on quite the show for Jade Thirlwall’s and Perrie Edwards's homecoming gig, with hits like ‘Black Magic’, ‘Salute’ and ‘Shoutout to My Ex’ coming thick and fast throughout the set.

The concert left fans buzzing, with young fan Amelia Laidlaw saying “This was my first ever concert and I don't think it's one I'll ever forget” when speaking to the Sunderland Echo after the show.

Michael Bublé

The undisputed king of Christmas brought his traditional pop sound to Seat Unique Riverside just last year on his ‘An Evening With Michael Bublé’ tour.

The star performed some of his biggest hits such as ‘Haven't Met You Yet’ and ‘Feeling Good’ in front of a packed out Durham crowd, and the singer even brought his own orchestra to make the gig extra special.

The two-hour set was a mixture of fantastic talent and showmanship, and Bublé had the crowd eating out the palm of his hand for the entirety of the show.

Diana Ross

Motown icon Diana Ross brought her ‘Thank You Tour’ to Durham’s home ground in 2022, and blew the audience away with her unbelievable vocals.

Even at the age of 78 Diana Ross is an absolute megastar, and she proved deserving of that title when she treated fans to a fantastic set including all of her greatest hits.

Coming just days after her headline performance at Glastonbury Festival, the ‘Baby Love’ singer had the packed stadium in a trance as she effortlessly glided around the stage.
