Billboard Music Awards

Coldplay have been nominated for 30 Billboard Music Awards, starting way back in 2003 when ‘Clocks’ was nominated for Digital Track of the Year. Since then, they have won nine awards particularly in the rock category, for Best Album, Best Song, and Best Touring Artist.

The band are well-acquainted with the Billboard Hot 100, with 26 songs that have made it onto the chart. They've had five top ten songs and two number ones, both of which were achieved nearly two decades apart with ‘Viva La Vida’ in 2005 and ‘My Universe’ in 2021.

Brit Awards

Coldplay are one of the most nominated artists in Brit Awards history, holding 32 total nominations and nine wins. They were the first act in history to win three British Album of the Year awards, and for three consecutive projects. They are tied with Arctic Monkeys and Adele as the category's biggest winners.

Grammy Awards

Coldplay won their first Grammy in 2002, receiving Best Alternative Music Album for Parachutes. Since then they have been nominated many times for albums, songs, and performances, but haven’t won one since Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for ‘Viva La Vida’ in 2009.

We hope Coldplay snag their next Grammy soon, especially as they’ve had such a monumental year with their Music of the Spheres World Tour and Moon Music album in 2024.

MTV Video Music Awards

The band have been nominated for many VMAs over the years, but perhaps their most successful year was in 2003 when they received a sweep for their hit song, ‘The Scientist.’ They won Best Group Video, Best Breakthrough Video, and Best Direction in a Video.

‘The Scientist’ music video is very impressive, as it was shot in reverse motion. This meant that Chris Martin had to learn the lyrics of the song backwards so he could sing along, which reportedly took him a month. It created a unique effect that definitely deserved its praise.
