No. 10: ‘No Time to Die’
‘No Time to Die’ is such a significant song for Billie because it was made as the theme song of the James Bond film of the same name. Not only that, but the song has orchestration by incredible film score composer Hans Zimmer. Billie was only 17 when the song was released, making her the youngest artist to have recorded a James Bond theme song.
The song debuted at the top of the charts, and won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. It’s an orchestral pop song, owing to Hans Zimmer’s hand in the production, with R&B influences reminiscent of the rest of Billie’s discography.
No. 9: ‘you should see me in a crown’
‘You should see me in a crown’ is from Billie’s debut studio album, the hugely successful When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The song is very typical of much of her discography, with whispered, mumbling vocals over fast-paced synths and drums.
Interestingly, Billie’s lyrics and song title were inspired by an episode of BBC’s Sherlock, in which the villain Moriarty says the line “Honey, you should see me in a crown.” The track is the perfect mix of trap-inspired pop and something darker and more edgy.
No. 8: ‘bury a friend’
"you should see me in a crown" is a song from Billie Eilish’s 2019 EP "dont smile at me." The song features a dark, confident tone, with Billie expressing self-assurance and a sense of power. The lyrics reflect themes of dominance, independence, and rejecting others' opinions. The track's production blends minimalist beats with haunting vocals, creating a signature Billie Eilish sound.
The song is so popular, thanks in part to its music video with its horror elements, that it has appeared on the setlist of all of her tours so far, including Hit Me Hard and Soft. Don’t forget to book your VIP tickets to her shows in Manchester in July to see the song live and in style!

‘What Was I Made For’ is quite a change of pace from Billie’s other hit songs, as it is a more typical-sounding ballad. The song was written for the Barbie movie soundtrack, and was successful enough to reach number one in multiple different countries and receive five Grammy nominations.
The song is melancholy yet holds a note of hopefulness, and the lyrics and music video show Billie being introspective about her own image as an artist, as she inspects Barbie-sized versions of outfits she has worn in the past.
No. 6: ‘when the party’s over’
‘When the party’s over’ is a piano ballad that is very sparse instrumentally, which Billie has noted made it difficult to record and make sure the song was interesting despite its simple bus-bass and piano. The choral singing adds to the haunting feel of the song, and is a departure from her other electro and R&B singles.
The music video for the song is equally as iconic. Billie’s black tears were created with tubes taped to the corners of her eyes, where black liquid spills down her cheeks giving the song an even more eerie and haunting feel.
No. 5: ‘Happier Than Ever’
Billie Eilish always knows when to switch things up to keep her audience guessing, and that’s exactly what ‘Happier Than Ever’ is. From her 2021 album of the same name, the song can be described as pop rock and emo, a great departure from her usual sound.
The ‘Happier Than Ever’ lyrics have Billie screaming “just f***ing leave me alone,” cathartically telling her toxic relationship that she’s better off without them. The outpour of anger and emotion is exactly what fans wanted after her first album, and it has become one of the defining songs of her career.
No. 4: ‘ocean eyes’
‘Ocean eyes’ was Billie Eilish’s debut single and it immediately went viral, foreshadowing what the rest of her career would be like. The song was originally released on Soundcloud in 2015 and completely blew up overnight, leading to the official release of the song and Billie’s subsequent debut EP.
The song is dreamy bedroom pop, with floaty synths and Billie’s silvery voice soaring above the instrumental like a lullaby. The song is soulful and full of emotion, and was the first instance of the long-running collaboration between Billie Eilish and her producer brother, Finneas O’Connell.
No. 3: ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER’
‘Birds of a Feather’ is the most recent entry on this list at the time of writing, but has already earned its place amongst Billie Eilish’s top songs. It’s the second single from her 2024 album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and has already been nominated for three Grammys. The song was first teased through the trailer for season three of Heartstopper, and once it was released it immediately charted in multiple countries.
At the end of 2024, ‘Birds of a Feather’ was the most-streamed song of the year, even surpassing ‘Espresso’ by Sabrina Carpenter. The song is, of course, on the setlist for her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, so don’t miss out on seeing this one live!

‘Lovely’ is a chamber pop song, featuring beautiful strings and piano instrumentals. Fitting the themes of the TV show it was written for, 13 Reasons Why, the lyrics are melancholic and hopeless, the duo singing of depression and feeling trapped inside your own mind.
Despite the song’s depressing subject matter however, Billie and Khalid struck gold with this track, and it has become one of the most streamed pop songs of all time. It is one of Billie’s most well-known songs and resonated with a generation of listeners with its addictive instrumental and raw lyrics.
No. 1: ‘bad guy’
‘Bad guy’ is definitely Billie Eilish's most recognisable song, which is why it has made it to number one on the list of her best songs ever. It’s upbeat and incredibly catchy, with its electropop, dance-pop vibe and the iconic lyrics=, “I’m the bad guy… duh!”
Needless to say, the song received many awards and high praise from critics, applauding Billie for asserting her power and dominance through the lyrics of the song despite her being so young and new tyo the industry. It totally defined pop in the 2010s, and for that reason deserves the title of Billie Eilish’s best song.
