There’s something about a British boyband that captures the public’s attention every time – from their English charm and cheekiness to their looks. You could argue that Beatlemania was the first time a British boyband really stole the hearts of teenage girls around the globe.

Since then, there have been many points in time when UK boy groups have been all the rage and topped the charts, even overseas. In this blog post we’ll take you through some of the best boybands the UK has produced and how you can get VIP tickets to see them live in concert!

No. 6: dearALICE

Starting off this list with the newest entry, dearALICE is a British boy group that are under the K-pop entertainment company, SM. That means that they’ve been training to dance and sing like K-pop idols, which you can learn more about from their BBC One documentary, Made in Korea. It’s a super interesting way to blend historically popular UK bands with the modern-day phenomenon of K-pop, and their debut single ‘Ariana’ is just the beginning of their journey.

No. 5: Five

Five are a major throwback to the 90s for many, formed in 1997 and becoming a staple on the charts around the turn of the century. With hits like ‘Everybody Get Up’ and ‘Keep On Movin,’ they were commonly seen on the charts up until their disbandment in 2001. However, fans of Five will be happy to know that they’re finally reuniting for a UK tour – with all five members in attendance! Grab VIP tickets at Seat Unique to see them this November.

No. 4: JLS

JLS is another iconic boyband that had their rise in the early 2000s when they were runners up on the 2008 series of The X Factor. What made their sound different was incorporating R&B, hip-hop, and dance into their pop music, and they came out with some hits like ‘Club is Alive,’ ‘Everybody in Love’ and ‘Beat Again’ that many of us will still remember. JLS got back together in 2020, and now in 2025 they’re back on tour to perform all their greatest hits once again!

No. 3: Take That

Take That were formed back in 1990, making them the longest standing boyband on this list. The original lineup featured Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald, and even though some members have now left, the band is still commended for its contribution to British music. Some of the band’s recent activity has been performing at King Charles’ coronation and their song ‘Greatest Day’ appearing in the Oscar-winning film, Anora.

No. 2: McFly

Although McFly were first formed in 2003, they’ve really stood the test of time and love performing together even now. McFly have a unique, pop-rock sound that sets them apart from other all-singing, all-dancing boybands of the time, especially as they all play their own instruments. From surf rock single ‘Five Colours In Her Hair’ to love ballad ‘All About You,’ they play it all at their upcoming Busted vs McFly tour! The two bands are regular touring partners now, making for an unforgettable show jam-packed with nostalgic boyband songs.

No. 1: One Direction

Since forming on The X Factor in 2010, One Direction have been one of the most popular boy bands in history. Original members Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, stormed the charts with hit after hit, including tracks such as 'Midnight Memories' and 'What Makes You Beautiful'. They have been called the modern Beatles for the grip they had on the world during their heyday. While unfortunately Liam Payne tragically passed away in 2024, perhaps the other members will want to reunite in his memory soon.
