Are Avenged Sevenfold releasing any new music?

Avenged Sevenfold's fans have been left waiting for new music since they brought out their seventh studio album “The Stage” in 2016.

The only new release from the American rockers in the last seven years is a previously unreleased song from their 2013 “Hail to the King” recording sessions called “Set Me Free” that they finally released in 2020.

However, the band has now officially confirmed that their new album will be released in 2023 in an announcement on their website. They also teased the new release with a series of postcards sent out with merchandise purchases. There is no official name for the project yet, but it is  likely to be announced shortly.

Members of the band have spoken at length about working on a new album, with lead singer M. Shadows explaining, “We’ve been writing a record for a while, and most of it was already written. But then we kinda took a break on it”, when speaking to Kerrang! In 2020.

A whole two years later, bassist Johnny Christ stated that the band were “still finishing up our record that we started. We had a lot of delays, for a lot of different reasons”, when talking on the Drinks With Johnny podcast. The original given date for the album's release was 2018, so fans have been waiting a while.

When did Avenged Sevenfold last tour?

Avenged Sevenfold's last tour was supposed to be their “End of the World Tour” in 2018, however, the band was forced to cancel all of the dates, after lead singer M. Shadows developed a vocal chord injury.

Meaning that the band’s last actual tour was their 2017 “The Stage World Tour”, which featured eight massive shows across the UK between January 10th - 21st. The band brought fellow hard rockers Disturbed and In Flames with them as support acts for their monster heavy metal shows.
